My hair’s secret

2 NOVEMBER 2017

During my busiest times as a model, before becoming a mother, I lived out of a suitcase and I would put my hair care in the hands of world-renowned stylists and professionals.

I’ve always been very curious and observant and these qualities have served me in good stead to learn from and absorb as much knowledge as possible from these world-class beauty professionals as they treated and worked with my face and hair. I have nourished myself with their expertise and professionalism and I’ve discovered many tips along the way which I use in my daily life which I have shared with you before in this blog. In this post I want to add yet another small confession to the list concerning the world of style and beauty by answering one of the most common questions asked by you in the comments, “how do you do your hair?”

Since moving to my home city I’ve turned hair and make-up artist Fernando Torrent’s salon in Barcelona into my beauty place for maintaining and looking after my hair, while at the same time recovering our special bond. I’ve known Fernando since I was starting my career. We worked together for the first time on a Pronovias campaign and during the years I was the image for the brand that same professional relationship grew and flourished into a close and intimate friendship that continues to today. It’s one of those special connections created by working in the beauty industry. Fernando is an extremely sensitive professional who adores beauty and exalts it. Watching his hands gliding over my hair with his scissors or the make-up brush gently dancing over my face as he brings to life his vision and ideas is like watching pure magic.

For the last two years Fernando has not only renewed and refreshed my hair style, he’s also added touches of light and colour to my hair twice per year. Without further ado, here I reveal to you my secret in the artist’s own words:

To work with Vanesa’s hair colour, I’m inspired by how her hair was when she was a little girl with long, golden, sun-kissed hair infused with the essence of the sea. The beauty of the colour is achieved by combining different tones and working with them in the most natural way possible. Respecting her natural features at all times I use different tones in her hair so that the light naturally reflects onto her face enhancing her most natural features. I like using citrus products rich in vitamin C to nourish her hair as well as applying natural hair-fading products, always working with small strands of hair at a time and even applying different intensities within each strand to create a luscious natural fading effect.

Sometimes it’s hard between women and even more between models to share our secret beauty tips. But sharing something positive which could be beneficial to someone, even if it’s to do with style and beauty, is something in which I truly believe.

“Because giving is always better than receiving”
V.
